Otumfuo Blesses Bawumia-Napo Ticket; Charges Running Mate To Prove Critics Wrong
Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has blessed NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his running mate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the party seek to win the December 7 polls.
The King also charged Dr Opoku Prempeh also known as Napo to prove his critics wrong.
Speaking when the NPP running mate was presented to him at the Manhyia Palace on Tuesday, the Asantehene said he had known Dr Opoku Prempeh to be humble and therefore wondered how some people tag him as arrogant. “I nurtured you at Manhyia, I am surprised people are saying you are arrogant. I don’t think you are. But don’t let the tag stick, prove them wrong,” Otumfuo stated.
Dr Opoku Prempeh, who is a grandson of the 14th Asantehene, Otumfuo Sir Osei Agyeman Prempeh II, was introduced to the Asantehene together with the NPP flagbearer, by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
No regret
Otumfuo advised Napo not to let Dr Bawumia regret selecting him as his running mate. “Don’t ever let him regret that. Be humble and submissive to him. Do only what he teaches you to do,” the King counseled Napo.
Messages
The Asantehene encouraged Dr Bawumia and his running mate to lead their party to effectively sell their message to the electorate, while urging other parties to do same. He said that will give the people the opportunity to examine the messages and inform their decisions on election date.
Commendation
Otumfuo thanked the President and the Vice President for the respect accorded him. He also commended Chairman Wontumi for preaching unity.
Hardworking
President Akufo-Addo described Dr Bawumia and Napo as hardworking men. “I’ve worked with them and know their strengths. I’m sure on December 7 Ghanaians will vote for NPP,“ he said.
