California has floods too, so Accra floods not major issue – Interior Minister

In a clear display of insensitivity toward the plight of flood victims in Accra, the Minister of the Interior, Muntaka-Mohammed Mubarak, has stated that Ghanaians should not treat the flooding as a major issue, arguing that even the United States experiences similar disasters.

Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, June 30, he remarked that the Accra floods are not a big deal, pointing out that even California, the richest state in the U.S., has suffered disasters resulting in casualties.

He therefore urged Ghanaians not to make noise over the Accra flood disaster. “The United States is the richest country in the world, and one of its richest states is California. California is the richest state in the U.S. On its own, California is the 6th largest economy in the world, yet they had a disaster and people lost their lives,” the minister stated.
