Bawumia Pledges to Integrate Engineering Expertise into NPP’s 2028 Policy Agenda

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2028 flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has held a productive meeting with the leadership of the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE), focusing on leveraging technical expertise to address key national challenges.

The session, which brought together Dr. Bawumia and his policy team with top GhIE officials, centred on innovative solutions for urban transport, infrastructure development, public procurement, and ensuring value for money in state projects.

The engagement is part of his ongoing series of meetings with various identifiable groups as he outlines his vision for the country.

The discussion aligns with the NPP’s broader effort to build a research-driven, technically grounded policy platform ahead of the 2028 elections.

Fruitful
“It was a fruitful discussion,” Dr. Bawumia stated in a social media post following the meeting. “No nation can develop without the valuable input of engineers, scientists, technologists, and other professionals,” Dr. Bawumia posted on his Facebook page.

He added, “ We are determined to factor in their inputs as we put together policies to solve many of Ghana’s problems.”

The GhIE delegation was led by its President, Ing. Ludwig Annang Hesse, and included President-Elect Ing. Sophia Tijani, among other senior members.

Infrastructure
The meeting comes after the GhIE has been vocal on infrastructure issues, recently calling for stricter adherence to procurement rules and technical assessments on major road projects.

Ing. Hesse has also championed the need to place engineering at the centre of Ghana’s development agenda.
