NPP Ashanti Regional Secretary Says NAPO Will Remain Bawumia’s Running Mate for 2028

Newly-elected Ashanti Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Francis Adomako, has indicated that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO) is likely to be maintained as the party’s Vice Presidential candidate for the 2028 elections.

In an interview with Opemsuo Radio, Dr. Adomako argued that the NPP has consistently retained its running mate throughout the current voting cycle, and therefore sees no justification for a change. “Our former running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, is still maintained as running mate. Since we started voting, we have not changed our running mate, so we are not changing NAPO,” he stated.

Dr. Adomako also reflected on his recent electoral victory as Ashanti Regional Secretary, attributing his success to his long-standing service to the party and the strong relationships he has built across constituencies.
He noted that these factors helped him overcome attempts to discredit him during the internal contest.
