Energy Minister opens exhibition component of 2023 Upstream Local Content Conference

Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, opened the exhibition component of the 2023 Upstream Local Content Conference and Exhibition at the Best Western Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi.

At a press briefing before the formal opening, the minister commended the companies that have bought space to exhibit various goods and services, making Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector operational.

He said that part of the conference continues to grow from strength to strength and expressed the hope that it will continue to help the sector consolidate the gains.

Networking

The day ended with a networking session dubbed “Executive Connect” hosted by the MTN.

Dr Opoku Prempeh emphasised the need for local content development in the overarching context of national development.

2023 conference

Over 500 upstream companies, and over 50 speakers, technical experts and moderators from government agencies, the petroleum industry, insurance companies and financial institutions, as well as regulators from other countries, academia, and civil society organisations are attending the conference.

This year’s conference , which takes place from November 21-24, is on the theme, “ 10 Years of Local Content in Ghana’s upstream Petroleum Industry, Achievement, Challenges and Prospects”.

Activities

The conference, organized by the Petroleum Commission, provides the opportunity for industry players to deliberate on matters that seek to advance the industry, as well as networking and sustainable local content and exhibition.

The Petroleum Commission will also honour selected companies for their contributions to local content development at a Recognition and Awards Night as part of the 10 years anniversary.
