CHOGM Must Deliver for 2.7 Billion People — Ayorkor Botchwey Joins King Charles at Pre-Summit Reception

Commonwealth Secretary-General Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has indicated that the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2026) in Antigua and Barbuda must deliver for the grouping’s 2.7 billion people.

She stated this in a social media post after attending a reception hosted by His Majesty The King ahead of the November summit.

Approximately 300 guests gathered at the historic London palace for the event, which brought together figures from entertainment and the arts, as well as diplomacy and charitable organisations with ties to the 56-nation grouping.

The occasion acknowledged and celebrated the significant contributions Commonwealth communities have made across the United Kingdom and further afield.

Ms Ayorkor Botchwey took to social media to highlight the event, emphasising the importance of CHOGM 2026, which will take place in November this year. “I look forward to working with Commonwealth leaders, partners and young people this November to deliver a programme for growth, prosperity, and ambitious climate action for the benefit of our 2.7 billion people,” she said.
