‘Nana, You See Far, a Visionary, We Are Happy to Have You’ — GIMPA Eulogizes Otumfuo Ahead of His Historic Visit for 65th Anniversary

The Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) has heaped praise on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, describing him as a “visionary” who “sees far,” as the institution prepares to host the revered monarch as its Distinguished Guest for its 65th anniversary grand finale on November 11, 2026.

In a series of social media posts, GIMPA expressed profound honour at the Asantehene’s acceptance to grace the milestone celebration, which marks 65 years of academic excellence, leadership development, and national impact. “Nana you see far, a visionary, we are happy to have you,” the Institute stated, adding that “the Ashanti Kingdom is one of the world’s biggest monarchies and its King coming to GIMPA is an honour”.

The Institute further declared, “Nana wo nkwa so. Live long Nana! GIMPA will be honoured to receive you,” and noted that “the 11th November will simply be grand”.

Historic milestone
The visit comes as GIMPA celebrates a remarkable journey of resilience and transformation. Established in 1961 as the Institute of Public Administration—a joint project between the Government of Ghana and the United Nations under the vision of Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah—the institution was re-designated as GIMPA in 1969 to reflect its expanded mandate. Over the decades, it has evolved into Ghana’s premier management development institute, offering programmes up to the doctoral level in leadership, management, public administration, and technology.

The 65th anniversary, themed “A Legacy of Excellence, A Future of Digital Transformation,” has been framed as a moment of “quiet triumph and national pride,” honouring what GIMPA describes as a story of “extraordinary resilience”.

The grand finale on November 11 is expected to be graced not only by the Asantehene but also by an impressive gathering of dignitaries, including the President of the Republic.

An honour
GIMPA officials have emphasised that Otumfuo’s presence will add immense significance to the anniversary. The Rector of GIMPA, Professor Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, himself a proud son ofAsante, has overseen a period of institutional renewal that has positioned the university at the forefront of digital public governance and administrative excellence.

The Asantehene’s visit is seen as a crowning moment for the Greenhill Campus, symbolising the intersection of traditional wisdom and contemporary leadership development.
