Stop Fooling, You’re not Presidential Materials — Kwesi Pratt Blasts NDC Flagbearer Hopefuls

Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jr. has delivered a scathing verdict on the potential flagbearer aspirants of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), describing them as real ‘sankwas’. “There is nothing presidential about the individuals who are jumping over themselves to become President,” he said during a radio interview in Accra.

Although he did not mention specific names, it was clear he was referring to Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Julius Debrah, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Haruna Iddrisu and Eric Opoku whose names have been openly mentioned as possible flagbearer contenders for the 2028 election.

Pratt said it is evident that these NDC big names are making fools of themselves with their presidential ambitions. “These individuals who are playing the fool, what is presidential about them?” he queried.

Exclusion of Vice President
However, Pratt appeared to exclude Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang from his attack.
Known to have a soft spot for the former Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Pratt repeatedly referred to “these men,” indicating that the Vice President was not the focus of his criticism, even though she is also reportedly interested in the flagbearer position.

Asiedu Nketia
At one point in his outburst, Pratt subtly took a dig at Asiedu Nketia, even attacking his appearance. “If you look at the appearance and public speaking of one of them and think that this person wants to become president, you ask, ‘What wrong has Ghana done?’”

Cryptic response
Asiedu Nketia quickly responded to Pratt’s attack with a cryptic post on social media. He stated: “Born to the Oyoko and Akwamu royal families, my upbringing was rooted in responsibility rather than privilege. In our home, this dual lineage was a constant lesson in respecting tradition and carrying the weight of the community. It instilled in me a sense of duty and a foundation of leadership that holds firm, no matter what the tides bring.”
