Ministerial Reshuffle: Who goes where?

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to announce a major ministerial reshuffle today, February 14, 2024.

The Thunder gathered that the Jubilee House was a beehive of activity yesterday as ministers expected to be affected and Members of Parliament (MPs) expected to benefit from the ministerial changes thronged the seat of the Presidency.

Movements
Our sources mentioned the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta as one of the key ministers who will drop out. His place will be taken over by the current Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance, Mohammed Amin Adam. The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta will will also exit and replaced by the Francis Asenso-Boakye, the current Minister of Works and Housing.

Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture will go out to be replaced by the Andrew Kofi Egyapa Mercer, the current Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources , while Dan Botwe , the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development will exit to be replaced by Agyei Mensah Korsah, who is his deputy .
Sources indicate that Mr Botwe will move to the Bawumia campaign team as manager. The Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Freda Prempeh, will also go out to be replaced by the MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Seyram Alhassan.

Retentions
Some of the key ministers who will retain their positions are Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Energy, and Samuel Abu Jinapor, Lands and Natural Resources.

Requirements
As required by the 1992 constitution, the President will submit the list of ministerial nominees to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, and the appointments will be announced on the floor of Parliament.

Meeting
Our sources at the Jubilee House intimated that President Akufo-Addo used yesterday to meet with all the ministers and deputy ministers who will be shifting places, leaving, or joining his government in the upcoming reshuffle.

Parliamentary leadership
Additionally, our sources indicated that there are discussions of a possible reshuffle of the leadership of the Majority in Parliament.
