With your blessing, I’ll win the NPP presidential ticket – Dr. Bawumia to Otumfuo at 6th Akwasidae
The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has thanked the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his advise and blessings that helped to secure him the top position in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Super Delegates Conference.
He said with similar blessings, he was sure to win the November 4 national delegates congress to become the presidential candidate of the party in the 2024 elections. Dr. Bawumia stated this when he celebrated the 6th Akwasidae of the year with Otumfuo at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Sunday.

Wearing a sparkling kente, the Vice President was accompanied by a number of government and party officials.
They included the Minister of Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye; the Minister of the Interior, Ambrose Dery; the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah; the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka Chairman Wontumi, and the spokesperson of the Bawumia campaign, Nana Akomea.
Respect
As tradition demands, the Vice President went to greet the King who sat in state in all his glory. When Dr. Bawumia got closer to the King , he lowered his cloth, bowed a little and extended his hand to greet Otumfuo as a sign of respect to His Majesty.
Final round
Vice President Bawumia indicated that before the Super Delegates Conference, he sought the King’s blessings , which propelled him to top the contest. “You gave me pieces of advice and your blessings and I won.”
Dr. Bawumia said on November 4, he will go for the final and main contest and expressed the hope that Otumfuo’s prayers would help him chalk up victory. “So I’m here for your blessings , and I’ll continue to seek your blessings,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
