Kojo Bamba: I Have No Issues With Nana B

Newly elected First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, has dismissed widespread speculation of a rift with his former boss and now Second Vice Chairman, Henry Nana Boakye, alias Nana B, insisting their relationship remains intact.

In a video shared on social media on Wednesday, October 7, Bamba stated he has no personal issues with Nana B, with whom he has worked for nearly a decade. “I have no personal issues with Nana B. We have worked together for almost 10 years, and I have always valued our professional relationship,” he said, adding, “Me and Nana B don’t have any issue”.

The clarification follows Bamba’s stunning victory at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held on October 3 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Background
Bamba secured the First Vice Chairman position with 3,116 votes, defeating 12 other candidates and edging out Nana B, who polled 3,061 votes to become Second Vice Chairman. Nana Akomea took the Third Vice Chairman slot with 2,981 votes. The result was particularly striking given Bamba’s past head of security and operations at Nana B’s office.

Absence
Addressing his absence from a recent meeting between NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and newly elected national executives, Bamba explained it was not linked to any disagreement. “I wasn’t at the meeting by the newly elected New Patriotic Party executives because I had another engagement. I was informed and I had to seek permission to be absent,” he said.

Position intact
The First Vice Chairman also rejected rumours that party leadership had asked him to relinquish his position to Nana B or Nana Akomea. “The rumours that I was engaged by the party leadership to leave the First National Chairman position to Nana B or Nana Akomea is not true,” he stated.

Nana Akomea has separately denied reports of any negotiation involving him and Nana B to persuade Bamba to step aside, dismissing the claims as baseless.

Bamba revealed that after the contest, he reached out to Nana B and other aspirants to share ideas on how to work together. He urged the new leadership to put the election behind them and focus on rebuilding the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
