Ridiculous lie – furious Bawumia fires Kennnedy Agyapong over cash, car bribery allegation

Leading contender in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer race, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has taken the fight to his opponents for spreading lies about him.

Apparently pointing fingers at another aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong and his camp, Dr Bawumia said with defeat staring them in the face, they have resorted to a smear campaign against him.

Campaigning in the Northern Region on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, Dr Bawumia said, “ We are about to make history. But, because of the way the results of the super delegates conference came, many of our opponents are confused and are seeing looming defeat on November 4.

“And because of that they have decided to adopt some new tactics, which is if you miss the ball don’t miss the man. What is the tactics? They have decided to spread lies and to bring disunity amongst us and to create problems with chairmen and constituency executives and electoral area coordinators. They want to knock our heads together.”

Dr Bawumia addressed delegates in Tatale-Sanguli, Zabzugu and Saboba.

Cash, vehicle allegation
Even though the Vice President did not mention any names, his target appears to be Kennedy Agyapong who recently accused him of vote-buying.

The Vice President mentioned the allegation of he giving all constituency chairmen 100,000 cedis each and a pick-up vehicle, and asked the delegates , “ have you seen any pick-up here for your chairman?”
“This is a ridiculous lie, “ he added.

Other frivolous allegations
Dr Bawumia also rubbished claims that he had planned to prevent polling station executives and electoral area coordinators from voting in future presidential primaries and also he wants to ensure that all sitting NPP Members of Parliament (MPs) go unopposed.

“Then they say I will not allow, in the future, polling station executives and electoral area coordinators to vote in presidential elections. I mean how can this happen? It’s not possible for me to stop polling station executives and electoral area coordinators from voting. This was a National Conference decision. And I was very supportive of expanding the electoral college to allow polling station executives and electoral area coordinators to vote. And by the grace of God they will continue to vote. That lie must be put to rest,” he told the delegates.
