King Paluta Eyes TGMA Artist of the Year, Justifies Why He Deserves It

Ghanaian musician Thomas Adjei Wireko, better known by the stage name King Paluta believes he has done enough to win the Artist of the Year title at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

In an exclusive interview on Neat FM on Monday, March 4, 2025, the artiste emphasized his dedication and achievements over the past year, highlighting his consistency in the industry. He pointed out that he released four hit songs Odo Bi Ye Bad, Aseda, Makoma, and For the Popping (Apicki) which received massive recognition both in Ghana and internationally.

Beyond his own music, he featured on over 40 songs, performed at 115 shows, and successfully dropped an album.

“Last year, I won TGMA’s Best New Artist of the Year, which was the second most prestigious award after the ultimate Artist of the Year. If I have evolved from being a new cat to making bigger moves, then I deserve the ultimate this time around,” he stated.

Paluta also described 2024 as his year, noting that his music has gained global appeal.

“I did not sleep on my talent. I have recorded back-to-back hits. My songs went worldwide—people from different countries were jamming to them. It will be unfair not to be given due recognition as Artist of the Year,” he stressed.

One key requirement for winning the Artist of the Year category is headlining a major concert, which King Paluta has yet to do. However, he defended this, explaining that he had to focus on international engagements because of high demand from his global audience.

Apart from the top award, King Paluta is also hoping to secure wins in categories like Best Collaboration and Most Popular Song of the Year, given his impact on the music scene.
