#GhVetting: I’ll still teach in classrooms if I become Education Minister – Adutwum

The Bosomtwe MP and Minister of Education-designate Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum say he will still go to the board and teach in classrooms even after the Parliament of Ghana approves him as Ghana’s Education Minister.

Dr. Yaw Adutwum announced this during his vetting by the Member’s of Parliament Appointment Committee on February 11, 2021.

“I’m a ‘teacher-in-chief’ and when I become the Minister, you’ll see me with a marker teaching in the classroom,” He told the Appointment Committee.

According to the teaching Minister, he will continue his role as the teacher-in-chief to encourage both teachers and students in the country.

Commenting on calls for the closure of schools amid the rise in the covid-19 cases, the educationist said “schools will be a safer environment to protect the students from the virus than the keeping them at home”

Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum after serving as the Deputy Education Minister in charge of Pre-tertiary education from 2017 to 2020 was earlier this year appointed by President Akufo-Addo as the Education Minister-designate.

The Bosomtwe Member of Parliament following his new appointment was vetted on February 11, 2021, by the Member’s of Parliament Appointment Committee and currently waiting the approval as the Minister of Education.
