St. Andrews African Summit in Scotland features Asantehene’s influence on education in Ghana

The immense role played by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II in educational development in Ghana will feature prominently at the St. Andrews Africa Summit (SAASUM) in Scotland this weekend.

Organizers of the event believe the King deserves celebration for his tremendous contributions in projecting educational opportunities for the youth in Ghana.

Consequently, the final part of SAASUM’s “Get To Know The King” series, takes a look at the Asantehene’s influence on education in Ghana.

The “Get to Know the King” series has been instituted by the organizers in the build up to the upcoming September 16 , 2024 King of Asante Keynote Address at SAASUM presents new post series:

Visionary leadership
On social media, the organizers of the summit have been eulogizing His Majesty for bringing hope to many young people through his educational initiatives. “Through his visionary leadership, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has championed numerous educational reforms to promote access to quality learning for all Ghanaians.
“In 2009, he established the Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation, a programme which has benefited hundreds of thousands of students with scholarships and financial support in their educational endeavors,” SAASUM posted on its official Facebook page.

It added: “Alongside the Otumfuo Educational Fund, the Asantehene has sought to improve skills training, entrepreneurship, and promotion of cultural heritage in schools. He also serves as the Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.”

Shaping Ghana’s future
Furthermore, the summit organizers indicated that the Asantehene’s unwavering commitment to education has shaped the future of Ghana, empowering its youth with knowledge and fostering an even brighter tomorrow.

The Summit which will grant students a truly singular opportunity to engage with a high-profile public figure and world leader, and of course, Otumofuo’s esteemed accompanying administration.

The Asantehene flew from Kumasi on Sunday to Scotland to grace the summit. He will speak at the St. Andrews University on September where he will provide insight into the Kingdom of Asante and how the diverse peoples of Ghana fit into local and national government.

He was accompanied by some of his chiefs including the Juabenhene , Nana Otuo Siriboe II, and officials of the Manhyia Palace
