Dedicate First Goal to Me – Asantehene Charges Black Stars to Victory; Set to Attend Opener Against Panama Today

Juabenhene Nana Otuo Siriboe II confirmed on Tuesday that Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, plans to be at BMO Field in Toronto tonight to cheer the Black Stars to victory against Panama. “Otumfuo hopes to be with you in the stadium tomorrow, and that you will dedicate the first goal to him,” he said.
Boost
The Asantehene’s attendance is intended to boost squad morale as the team begins its Group L campaign at the FIFA World Cup.
On Tuesday, Otumfuo dispatched a delegation led by Juabenhene to join Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang in visiting the team’s camp in Toronto, where they encouraged the players to aim for victory.

Cohesive play
Speaking on behalf of the Asantehene, Juabenhene conveyed the King’s expectation that the team play cohesively rather than individualistically. “Don’t have overrespect for your opponents. Have the confidence to win. You have the best of players, and you can do it,” he told them.
