NPP Announces June 22–24 for Constituency Elections, Sets Fees and Eligibility Criteria

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially set its constituency executive elections for June 22–24, 2026, and outlined the rules for aspirants. Nomination forms can be picked up at constituency offices or from the Constituency Elections Committees (CECs), and are also available for download online though submission still requires payment of the applicable fee at the CEC.

Fees
Filing fees are pegged at GHC1,500 for Chairman, GHC1,000 for both Vice Chairman positions, and GHC500 for all other roles.

To qualify, candidates must be registered voters in the constituency they seek to represent, have fully paid their dues, and demonstrate at least two years of active party membership. Those vying for Secretary, Research Officer, or Electoral Affairs Officer must hold at least a Diploma.

Current CEC members are ineligible unless replaced, and the party has guaranteed that no aspirant will be disqualified for form errors without a chance to correct them.

Positions
Regionally, CEC member lists must reach the national secretariat by June 18, with official inaugurations scheduled for June 21.

Eleven positions are up for grabs, including Chairman, Vice Chairmen, Secretary, Deputy Secretary, Treasurer, Organiser, Women Organiser, Youth Organiser, Nasara Organiser, and Communication Officer.

Each constituency will have an Appeals Committee, comprising appointees from the National Steering Committee, Regional Steering Committee, and Legal Directorate, tasked with resolving petitions within 48 hours, with further appeal to the National Steering Committee for a final decision.

The Electoral Commission of Ghana will oversee the voting, in line with the Political Parties Act, and constituencies will receive poll notices at least four days in advance.
