Ghana Tourism Authority Invites Proposals for 2025 ‘December in GH’ Festivities

The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) is inviting innovative proposals from event planners, promoters, and cultural curators for this year’s December in GH—the country’s biggest celebration of culture, heritage, and entertainment.

Set to run from December 1, 2025, to January 3, 2026, the month-long campaign blends music, art, fashion, nightlife, and cultural showcases into a vibrant calendar that attracts thousands of locals, returning diasporans, and global visitors. This year’s edition is being shaped under the broader theme of the Black Star Experience, Ghana’s leading tourism drive aimed at spotlighting the country as a global hub for cultural reconnection and heritage tourism.

“December in GH is more than a festive celebration; it is a movement that showcases Ghana’s vibrant spirit to the world. As we embrace the Black Star Experience, we are setting the stage for our biggest December season yet, and we look forward to innovative events that will elevate Ghana’s place as a leading destination for culture, entertainment, and heritage tourism,” CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto said.

The GTA called on stakeholders to submit event proposals that can contribute to a diverse and high-impact schedule of activities across Ghana. Submissions are open until June 16, 2025, and a review committee will vet entries based on quality, creativity, and alignment with the campaign’s goals. Approved events will be featured on the official December in GH calendar.

Annabelle McKenzie, Director of the International Affairs Secretariat, also shared her excitement about what’s ahead: “We’re excited to work with event organizers who bring fresh ideas to December in GH.”

The annual celebration continues to build momentum as a key economic and cultural driver, aiming not just to entertain, but also to reinforce Ghana’s global reputation as the gateway to Africa and a home for diasporan reconnection.
