Man Killed For Stealing Goat
THE POLICE in the Asante Akyem Central Municipality in the Ashanti Region are hunting for killers of a 45-year-old man who was beaten to death by a mob.
The deceased, identified as Kofi Yobi, was reported to have attempted to steal a life goat at New Koforidua on June 25, this year.
Luck, however, eluded Kofi Yobi as he was spotted by a group of people, who applied ‘instant justice’, leading to the end of his life.
The lifeless body of the alleged goat thief has since been dumped in a Hospital Morgue at Yaakwei as police are chasing his killers.
A police report indicated that Nana Sarfo Prempeh, Traditional Secretary of New Koforidua Palace, alerted police about the death.
The report which the paper has sighted, said “one Kofi Lobi, 45, has been lynched by unknown mob for stealing a goat at New Koforidua”.
Police rushed to the scene and found Lobi lying a supine position, with marks of assault all over his body as blood oozed from his mouth.
The suspected goat thief’s body has since been dumped in a mortuary for autopsy as efforts are now underway to arrest his ‘wicked’ killers.
