With Bawumia as NPP flag bearer, it will be difficult for NDC to win 2024 election – Manasseh Azure

Award-winning investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, has predicted that it will be difficult for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to win the 2024 presidential election if Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia becomes the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He said some dynamics would come into play if Dr Bawumia wins the NPP presidential primary. This will pose a big challenge to the NDC.

More challenging
He noted that even though the odds appeared to favour the NDC, it would be more challenging for them once Dr Bawumia leads the NPP into the presidential polls.

“The grounds are fertile for an NDC victory in 2024. However, if Dr. Bawumia wins the NPP primary, some important dynamics will change, and the NDC must work extra hard to clinch the victory. The odds will still favour the NDC, but any form of complacency will result in an upset,” he stated in a Facebook post.

Bawumia tipped to win
Dr. Bawumia has been tipped to win the NPP presidential ticket in view of the massive support he enjoys from the rank and file of the party.

Since he started his campaign for the presidential primary, which has so far taken him to the Greater Accra and Ashanti regions, the reception from delegates has been overwhelming.

Message
The Vice President has been telling delegates that he is the most experienced among the 10 aspirants, and deserves the right to lead the party to “break the 8”. He said he is the only aspirant the NDC fears which is why they have targeted him for unjustifiable attacks.

Primaries
The Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye-led vetting committee last week cleared all 10 presidential aspirants who filed their nomination forms for the special Electoral College election.

The ten aspirants are Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Joe Ghartey and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

Others include Boakye Agarko. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Addai-Nimoh Francis, Joe Ghartey and Dr. kofi Konadu Apraku.
