Mbomba Wins Tatali Seat As Nana Addo Makes History | Politics

President Nana Addo has for the first time since the Tatali/Sanguli constituency was created won the Presidential election with 14, 353 votes to beat John Dramani Mahama of the NDC who had 13,250 votes.

Hon Thomas Mbomba of the NPP also pulled 15,654 votes in the Parliamentary contest to dethrone Hon Tampi Acheampong Simon of the NDC who had 13, 250 of the votes. Tampi was the incumbent MP.

The Tatali/Sanguli constituency was created prior to the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections. It was curved out of the Zabzugu/Tatali constituency.

In the 2012 Parliamentary elections, Hon James Cecil Yawumbie of the NPP got 7, 037 votes to beat Hon Thomas Brempong Laten of the NDC who had 7, 001. It was a highly competitive contest with 36 votes between the Candidates.

On the part of the President results, John Dramani Mahama won with 10,060 votes and Nana Addo had 8,892 votes.

In the 2016 elections the NPP could not retain the Parliamentary seat. Thomas Mbomba of the NPP secured 7,027 votes and Tampi Acheampong Simon got 9,371 of the votes to win.

It must be stated that James Cecil Yawumbie who won the seat for the NPP in 2012 went Independent after loosing the primaries. He pulled 6,477 of the votes. This was the reason the NDC won the seat in 2016.

On the part of the Presidential votes in 2016, John Dramani Mahama of the NDC secured 12,105 votes to beat Nana Addo who had 9,782 of the votes.

The 2020 elections was interesting in the Tatali/Sanguli constituency. Hon James Cecil Yawumbie who went Independent in 2016, did not contest the NPP primaries. He rather became the lead campaigner for Hon Thomas Mbomba who was the DCE and the NPP Candidate.

At the end of the polls, Thomas Mbomba of the NPP pulled 15,654 of the votes to beat Tampi Acheampong of the NDC who had 13,176 of the votes.

Nana Addo of the NPP for the first time won the Presidential contest in the constituency by pulling 14,353 of the votes to beat John Dramani Mahama of the NDC who had 13,250 votes.

Thomas Mbomba, is said to have endeared himself to his people and also brought lots of developmental projects to the District as the DCE.

The deep involvement of Hon James Cecil Yawumbie in the campaign activities also impacted positively on the fortunes of the NPP in the constituency
