Look sharp, ignore bitter aspirant – Samira Bawumia to delegates

The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia has urged delegates of the November 4, 2023 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary not to be swayed by bitter talk of any candidate who threatens to take the party into opposition if his demands are not met.

Rather, the delegates should rally behind the person who is capable of leading the party to retain power in 2024.
Without mentioning the name of the bitter person , she said, “ Maybe he is satisfied, the wife is satisfied, his children are all satisfied, and he doesn’t have any worries, when he drags us into opposition, he is okay so we have to look sharp? Or is that not so? We should look sharp.”

Mrs Bawumia who has been touring some constituencies in the Ashanti Region to interact with party faithful, said the party needs a generational leader to take it to the promise land .

Bitterness
Further chastising the bitter person, Mrs Bawumia said, “ He is saying they have taken you for a fool and you haven’t gotten benefits, but let me ask you, if you go into opposition would you get anything? If you go into opposition, do you have a minister that you can go to and ask for something? If you go into opposition, do you have a DCE that you can ask for something?”

She noted that such persons, their wives and children are feeling comfortable compared to the the party’s grassroots for which reason they are threatening to ensure the NPP goes into opposition.

Special polls
She describes the 2024 general election as a special one for the party. “The election we are heading towards is one that is important for the party, so we do not want to make a mistake. “If we are prepared to win the 2024 elections, we should be measured by our utterances and how we communicate. Let it be known that the November 4 polls is an internal party matter and it is special for the party. We need to show a united front and rally behind the person who can give us power”, she urged.
