Ghana Armed Forces to resume recruitment in Greater Accra, sets up new team after stampede

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has announced the resumption of the suspended 2025/2026 recruitment exercise in the Greater Accra Region from Thursday, 20 November 2025.
In a press release issued on Monday, the military high command also confirmed that the entire Greater Accra recruitment team has been replaced to allow for a “fair and transparent” investigation into the stampede that disrupted the process last week.
Commodore FA Nyarko, Colonel F Kusi-Darko and Colonel GB Eduah have taken over as Director General Human Resource, Director Manpower, and Director Information Technology respectively.
A board of inquiry set up to investigate the circumstances leading to the stampede is still in progress. GAF assured the public that “anyone found culpable from the Inquiry will be sanctioned accordingly.”
Screening centres
As part of measures to ensure a seamless process, the screening will be conducted at eight sub-centres across five locations in the region:
· El-Wak Stadium – 2 Centres
· Nicholson Park, Burma Camp – 2 Centres
· Air Force Base, Burma Camp
· Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Teshie – 2 Centres
· Eastern Naval Command, Tema
Instructions to applicants
All qualified applicants will receive an SMS in batches of 600 persons, specifying their reporting dates, batches and designated centres.
Applicants are strongly advised to strictly adhere to these instructions and are also encouraged to check the recruitment portal for updates.
Any qualified applicant who does not receive a text message by Thursday, 20 November 2025, should call the helpline on 0256405104 or WhatsApp on 0256405154 for assistance.
GAF has cautioned families and friends not to accompany potential recruits to the screening centres to reduce congestion, adding that non-applicants will not be allowed entry to any of the centres.
Sympathies and support
The Ghana Armed Forces expressed its regret over the “unfortunate incident” and extended its “deepest sympathies to the bereaved families,” while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
All injured persons will continue to receive free medical services at the 37 Military Hospital until they recover.
Additionally, a special recruitment package will be offered to all injured persons after full recovery and also to the bereaved families.
