Boakye Agyarko, Addai-Nimo ready for run-off Saturday
The two NPP flag bearer aspirants who tied in 5th place in the super delegates conference have declared their readiness for the run-off on Saturday to determine who joins the first four for the National Delegates Congress.
Francis Addai-Nimo, a former Member of Parliament for Mampong, and Boakye Agyarko, a former Minister of Energy had nine votes each, and per the rules of the election, a run-off should take place to determine the fifth candidate for the November 4 polls to elect the party’s flag bearer for the 2024 general elections.
Dream on course
Mr Addai-Nimo said his dream to lead the NPP has not fizzled out. According to the flag bearer hopeful, he was hoping to get over a hundred votes in the super delegates conference but that did not materialize.
Nevertheless, he is not perturbed since the results of the polls underlined the unpredictable nature of human beings.
“I have my conviction and I have my ambition and in the same manner, the other nine aspirants had their ambitions and I don’t know when somebody had his dream of leading the party but I have had my dream for many years and so I am pushing it and I am going ahead with it,” he said.
I’m not backing out
In a brief statement, Mr Boakye Agyarko refuted claims that he has withdrawn from the party’s presidential primary. Describing the allegations as baseless, he affirmed his readiness to face the run-off to decide the tie between him and Mr Addai-Nimo.
