Otumfuo to Attend Africa Business Investment Summit, Celebrate Akwasidae Kesie in Washington; Targets $500M in Investment

The Millennium Excellence Foundation and IC Publications, the publisher of African Business, New African, and African Banker, have signed a strategic partnership to produce the Africa Business Investment Summit 2026 (ABIS 2026).

The summit serves as the flagship investment event of Millennium Excellence Week America 2026. Held under the patronage of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, ABIS 2026 will feature his Royal Keynote Address on 27 August.

According to a statement issued by the Foundation in Washington D.C., the King’s participation underscores the summit’s prestige and its deep roots in Ghanaian and Pan-African leadership. Themed “Unlocking Capital · Steering Investment · Shaping Africa’s Future,” ABIS 2026 will take place at the iconic MGM National Harbor on the banks of the Potomac River.

The event will culminate in the Akwasidae Grand Durbar, a historic royal gathering that unites traditional authority with global investment leadership.

Target
ABIS 2026 is designed to facilitate a minimum of $500 million in structured capital commitments between African deal originators and U.S.-based institutional and private investors.

Deals are organized across seven high-priority sectors: Energy & Power, Technology & Innovation, Agriculture & Food Systems, Tourism & Creative Economy, Infrastructure & Real Estate, Mining & Natural Resources, and Maritime.

Attendees
The programme will bring together Heads of State, global CEOs, Development Finance Institutions, institutional investors, and sector ministers. More than 40% of attendees hold C-Suite or ministerial rank. “For more than five decades, IC Publications has been the editorial voice of African business. Partnering with the Millennium Excellence Foundation on ABIS 2026 is a natural extension of that mission,” the statement noted.

The Summit will bring together the relationships, the platforms, and the ambition that Africa’s economic future demands.
