Police to amend charges against Rev. Owusu Bempah, four others

The police are set to amend the charges and facts against the General Overseer of Glorious Word Power Ministries International, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah, and four others before an Accra Circuit Court.

It is unclear what amendments the police intend to do, but Chief Inspector Dennis Terkpetey told the trial court on Monday (20 September) that they need a week’s adjournment to do the amendments.

Rev Owusu-Bempah and five others namely Mensah Ofori, Michael Boateng, Frederick Ohene, Nathaniel Agyekum and another at large, were charged with six counts of threat of death and assault.

The accused persons are facing charges for allegedly threatening to kill the fetish priest turned evangelist, Patricia Oduro Koranteng, popularly known as Okomfo Agradaa.

They were initially remanded by the circuit court when they made their maiden appearance but their lawyer, Gary Nimako Marfo made a repeat application for bail at the High Court which was granted.

Rev Bempah was granted a bail of GHC200,000 with two sureties.

The case has been adjourned to 5 October 2021 for when the pleas of the accused person would be retaken per the amendments to be done.
