Kotoko, four others to play without fans at stadium

Asante Kotoko would be one of the five clubs playing without fans at the stadium due to their inability to follow through with a directive by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on the training of stewards.

Currently, only Accra Hearts of Oak, Accra Great Olympics, Legon Cities, Berekum Chelsea, Elmina Sharks, Ashantigold, WAFA, Liberty Professionals, Dreams FC, Eleven Wonders, Medeama, Karela United and King Faisal have been given the green light by the GFA to admit fans into their stadiums.

Asante Kotoko, Bechem United, Aduana Stars, Ebusua Dwarfs and Inter Allies are the clubs that failed to comply with the directive.

The aim is in line with government’s measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The Sports Ministry in a statement on Friday, announced the easing of restrictions on the ban of fans from stadiums saying: “The Ministry of Youth and Sports is delighted to announce that with immediate effect, approval is granted for football fans (25%) to return to the various League centers to watch both domestic and international competitions subject to observing all the national COVID-19 protocols and the GFA Matchday COVID-19 protocols.”
