Kojo Antwi, Bernard Amankwah Honoured
Two of Ghana’s celebrated musicians, Kojo Antwi and Bernard Amankwah, have been honoured for their contributions to the development of the music industry in Ghana.
Ace highlife musician Kojo Antwi was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Ghana Event Industry Conference (GEIC) at the 3rd edition of the 2021 Ghana Event Industry Conference (GEIC) Gala and Awards night held at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra.
The award was in recognition of his dedication and commitment in building music events and the industry, as well as being a highly respected advocate for best practices in the creative arts and tourism sector on the African continent and the globe.
Kojo’s lifespan in the music and entertainment industry stretches to over four decades.
Kojo Antwi, popularly known as Mr Music Man, has performed on a number of local and international music platforms with his numerous love and real-to-life songs, expressed gratitude to his family, his management, the organisers of the award and cherished clients and admirers for always patronising his songs.
On his part, gospel musician, Bernard Amankwah was also honoured with three prestigious awards for his dedication to national and community volunteerism.
He grabbed the enviable United States’ Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award under President Barack Obama in recognition and appreciation for his commitment to strengthening the nation and communities.
He was again honoured with a prestigious Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humanitarianism from the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training.
A Global Humanitarian Award was also one of the deserving titles he garnered for himself.
Accompanying his Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award was a congratulatory message from Barack Obama, thanking him for “helping to address the most pressing needs in your community.
“While government can open more opportunities for you to serve our communities, it is up to each of us to seize those opportunities. Thank you for devotion to service and for doing all you can to shape a better tomorrow for our great Nation,” the letter said.
Expressing delight in Bernard Amankwah, Chief Executive Officer of the Global International Alliance, Ambassador Leonora Peterson, said she was proud to honour and present him the degree.
Amid congratulations, she prayed for God’s blessing to precede his activities.
She again revealed that the honorees will become one of the elites of their national and international recipients.
Ambassador Leonora then confirmed the accreditation of the Honorary Doctorate by listing some organisations that have endorsed and approved the GIA.
