Energy Minister promises improved power stability in Krachi

The Energy Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh has given the assurance that the necessary interventions are being made to improve power stability in the Krachi area of the Oti Region.

Speaking at the 2023 celebration of the Krachiman Yam Festival at Kete Krachi on Saturday, November 11, the Minister who was the Guest of Honour, said the people of the area deserve stable power, and nothing is being left to chance in that respect.

The yam festival is celebrated to herald the harvesting of fresh yams and to give thanks to God for a successful farming season.

Responding to the concern of the Krachiwura, Nana Mprah Besemuna III on the power situation in the area, the Minister stated: “ Krachiwura, in your speech, I heard you clearly talk about the power situation in Kete Krachi and its environs. You talk about it because it is dear to your heart and in fact central to the well-being of your people.

“In fact, the good news is that, it is so dear to me too, because, when my name was mentioned by President Akufo-Addo to become Energy Minister, I knew that one of the key expectations of the ordinary Ghanaian which includes your people was the stability of power for residential and commercial use and so this is the very direction myself and my team have been channeling our energies.”

Flooding

Touching on the recent flooding in the Lower Volta basin, which affected Krachi, Dr Opoku Prempeh extended to the entire Krachiman, the government’s sympathies and assured of continued efforts at ameliorating their plight.

Global challenges

The Minister said the Akufo-Addo government will continue to work fervently to bring the needed relief to Ghanaians on the socio-economic front, even in the face of global challenges.

This, he explained, is anchored on leadership, being about service.

Successful yam season

Dr Opoku Prempeh commended the chiefs and people of the area for a successful yam season.

He said the government recognises the hard work of the people and would continue to undertake projects and programmes that will improve their living conditions.
