Sampa belongs to me, nobody can intimidate you – Otumfuo to new Sampahene

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has stated categorically that Sampa in the Bono Region belongs to him, and nobody can question that.

Consequently, he has asked the new Omanhene of the Sampa Traditional Area, Nana Samgba Gyafla II, not to allow anybody to intimidate him, once he has sworn the oath oath of allegiance to him.

“Sampa is my town. Now, I have given you the authority to take care of the area, and ensure that development comes to the area. Don’t allow anybody to intimidate you,” the Asantehene said at the oath swearing at the Manhyia Palace on Monday, December 18, 2023.

Judge

The new Omanhene, 45, known in private life as Justice Emmanuel Ankamah, is a Justice of the Court of Appeal.

He succeeds the late Nana Kofi Sono II who died on May 8, 2007, at the age of 86, and reigned for 25 years.

Seven of his colleagues on the Court of Appeal accompanied him to the Manhyia Palace to witness the historic moment.

Jubilation

There was massive jubilation at the Manhyia Palace as hundreds of Sampa natives who witnessed the event sang and danced after the Omanhene picked the Mponponsuo sword to swear the oath of allegiance to the Asantehene, promising to be faithful at all times to the Golden Stool.

He was later carried in palanquin and paraded through some of the streets of Manhyia amidst the throbbing of fontomfrom drums.

The Omanhene is a member of the Kyidom Division of the Asanteman Council .

Development

Otumfuo advised the Omanhene to make development his prime focus.

“ I want to see you lead the charge to bring development to Sampa. I want to see schools, hospitals and other development projects in the area. “Once you do that, the image of Sampa will rise,” the Asantehene said.

No competition

His Majesty further told the Omanhene that he is not in competition with anybody in the traditional area, and that all he wants from him is development.

“I want to see you and your elders united, and, together with the people drive the required development,” he charged him.

Traditional Council speaks

The Sampa Traditional Council , earlier in a statement said, “Asantehene is the legatee and overlord of Sampa and has the sole responsibility of deciding who leads his people in Sampa.”

“The reality is, no amount of violence can aid one case so using violence to force yourself onto people or to become a royal has significant negative effects on both the individual and society. “
