Court Fines Agradaa GHC46K
Nana Agradaa, the sensational fetish priestess who claims she has become a Christian evangelist under the new name Evangelist Patricia Asiedua Oduro Koranteng was on Wednesday fined an amount of GHC46, 000 by a Circuit Court in Accra after she pleaded guilty to two charges slapped on her.
In default of the payment of the fines, Nana Agradaa is to serve a custodial period of three years for the first charge and one year for the second charge.
Both sentences are to run concurrently.
The court, presided over by Justice Emmanuel Essandor, convicted and sentenced Nana Agradaa to a fine of GHS36,000 on the charge of operating a television station without a license, and GHS10,000 on the charge of “charlatanic advertisement” on the said television station.
The cantankerous traditional priestess was recently arrested over her supposed money doubling antics on her television station, Thunder TV, which was also closed down for operating without the appropriate license.
Her arrest was largely applauded by a large section of the public who say it was long overdue.
Nana Agradaa has over the years advertised on her station her supposed powers at doubling any amount of money.
She was processed and put before court in April 2021 following her arrest by the police and National Security intelligence operatives in collaboration with the National Communications Authority (NCA) at the premises of her satellite television station, Thunder TV, one of the two stations the NCA accused her of operating illegally without authorisation.
Not long after her arrest, Agradaa said she had become a born-again and Holy Spirit filled Christian, who would spend the rest of her life as an Evangelist, preaching to convert people into Christianity.
She said she name had changed to Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng and that she would burn all her idols and deities in coming days.
Agradaa said she would work selflessly towards the promotion and advancement of the Kingdom of God. She would however keep to herself, all the money she made by defrauding people through her idol worship and fetish business practice.
The controversial woman addressed a press conference in Accra yesterday where she said over the years, she had received several prophecies that she has to stop her work as a fetish priestess and become a Christian pastor.
Agradaa said she however ignored all the prophecies until recently when she was arrested and put in cells over licensing challenges with her Thunder Television.
She said it was during her stay in police cells that she prayed to God to save her and that she was now ready to do God’s work.
Agradaa said while in cells, she entered into a covenant with God that if she gets a miracle to escape the charges leveled against her, she would spend the rest of her life as a Christian evangelist.
