KGL Foundation Commits $200,000 for Juvenile Football in Next 2 Years

The KGL Foundation has committed $200,000 to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to support juvenile football for the next two years. The funding has begun with the launch of the 2026 KGL U-17 Inter-regional Colts Championship.
The tournament was launched at the Conference Room of KGL House in Labone, Accra, with key stakeholders in attendance, including GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, Executive Council members, and senior officials of the KGL Foundation.
First launched in 2021, the initiative has become a key platform for discovering and developing young Ghanaian talent.
Speaking at Friday’s launch, Okraku praised KGL for its continued support of youth development. “We are here to reaffirm the marriage between the Ghana Football Association and the KGL Foundation,” he said.
He added: “Over a six-year tenure, we have produced amazing talents not only for local clubs but also for our various youth national teams. Today, I am proud to say that a lot of the products from these championships have represented Ghana at the U-17 level on the international stage, courtesy of the KGL Foundation.”
The championship aims to promote talent discovery, foster regional unity, support youth development, and nurture future stars from the district level to the national stage.
This year, KGL will provide each participating team with 60 kits made up of 30 home jerseys and 30 away jerseys, as well as footballs, bibs, and cones. The foundation will also award educational scholarships to some of the competition’s best players.
