Government revokes 541 post-December 7 appointments made under Akufo-Addo

A review of public sector recruitments following the December 7, 2024, elections has upheld 1,201 appointments while revoking 541, according to findings from a Special Committee set up by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah.
The panel examined appointments made during the transition period after the 2024 general elections, following the revocation of 2,080 appointments over concerns that the Akufo-Addo administration had bypassed established civil service recruitment procedures.
Significantly, 338 appointments involving persons with disabilities were also maintained, having been found to comply with due process.
Addressing the outcome, Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stressed that the review was not politically motivated but intended to strengthen due process, accountability, and good governance in the public service.
