Baba Ali will win Ayawaso East; ignore Mussa Dankwah’s poll – Evans Nimako

The Director of Research and Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Nimako, has dismissed a recent opinion poll projecting victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate in the Ayawaso East by-election.
The survey, conducted by Global InfoAnalytics between February 28 and March 1, sampled 972 voters in the constituency and placed NDC candidate Baba Jamal significantly ahead of NPP’s Baba Ali.
According to the poll, Baba Jamal is projected to secure 75 per cent of the vote, while Baba Ali is expected to obtain 21 per cent.
Independent candidate Umaru Sanda Muhammed is projected to receive 3 per cent, with Ibrahim Iddrisu and David each expected to garner less than 1 per cent.
Reacting to the survey in an interview with Channel One News reporter Fauzu Masawudu on Tuesday, March 3, Mr Nimako questioned the credibility of the poll and referenced a previous Global InfoAnalytics survey during the NDC primaries, which, he said, predicted a defeat for Baba Jamal but did not reflect the eventual outcome.
He expressed confidence that the NPP’s candidate would emerge victorious, citing what he described as extensive grassroots engagement in the constituency.
Mr Nimako said the party had effectively marketed Baba Ali to constituents and insisted that voters would decide in his favour at the polls.
He maintained that the outcome of the by-election would differ from the poll’s projections and assured supporters that the NPP candidate would win the seat.
“He’s the same person who predicted Baba Jamal would lose in the NDC primary. But he won. Who are the commissioners of his polls? For me, it’s neither here nor there. I can assure you that our candidate, Baba Ali, has been sold to the constituents; he’s known as the home boy and liked by all. Ask Baba Jamal his opinion about Mussa Dankwah, and we will take it from there.
He added, “We, the NPP, have engaged the constituents, we have sold our candidate to them, and we know that they are deciding in favour of him. He’s going to be the next MP for Ayawaso East. I can assure you that our candidate will come out victorious.”
