Napo Engages UNFPA Youth Leaders, Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Development

Former Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has reiterated his deep-seated commitment to youth empowerment.

This followed a meeting with a delegation from the UNFPA Youth Leaders (YoLe) Fellowship. The engagement, which took place on Wednesday, saw the former Education Minister host the YoLe Cohort 4 for what he described as a “reflective conversation” on their progress since his last interaction with the group in March 2023.

Appreciation
In a post on his official Facebook page, Dr. Prempeh, popularly known as Napo, expressed his appreciation for the visit and offered words of encouragement to the young leaders. “I appreciated their gesture and offered a few words of encouragement, trusting that the training and exposure YoLe provides will shape them into the leaders our nation needs,” he stated.

Focus
The meeting underscores Dr. Prempeh’s continued focus on youth-oriented issues. He emphasized that engaging with the younger generation remains a key personal priority, providing a platform to understand their ambitions and viewpoints on national affairs. “Youth engagement remains a deep passion of mine, and I value every opportunity to listen to young people, understand their aspirations, and explore their perspectives on the issues confronting our society,” Napo wrote.

Background
The UNFPA YoLe Fellowship is a flagship programme designed to equip young Ghanaians with the skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to national development, particularly in the areas of sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and public policy.

Dr. Prempeh’s latest interaction with the cohort is seen as a reinforcement of his belief in investing in the next generation of leaders to drive societal progress.
