Ntim’s Absence Won’t Halt Our Progress – Justin Kodua Assures

General Secretary for the opposition, New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Koduah, has stated that despite the absence of the party’s National Chairman, Mr. Stephen Ntim, the party remains firmly on course.

According to Mr. Kodua, the NPP’s constitution provides a clear framework for leadership continuity, ensuring that the party’s operations proceed without disruption; even in the absence of the National Chairman.

His remarks follows on the heels of a recent appeal by the family of Stephen Ntim, to excuse him indefinitely from official duties and active politics citing his deteriorating health condition as grounds.

In a letter to the Chairman of the NPP Council of Elders and dated June 16, 2025, the Ntim Family expressed grave concern over his recent health complications and the need for urgent medical attention and rest.

According to the family, Mr Ntim is “not well at the moment” and is currently experiencing “cognitive dissonance and mental incapacitation”.

“Common sense dictates that Steve, as a matter of urgency, be temporarily excused, not only from the rigours of active politics but from intra-party activities in order to make way for needed peace and solace and for concentration on the ongoing required medical treatment process,” portions of the the letter read.

Speaking in an interview on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Mr. Kodua wondered why there was no such communication from Mr Ntim himself nor any medical report to back the letter.

He, however, pointed out that the absence of any individual, including the Chairman, does not derail the party’s progress in any way.

He maintained that the NPP is a formidable party; and called on all party supporters and sympathisers to remain resolute as the party prepares adequately to return to power in 2028.

The General Secretary stressed that systems are in place to maintain momentum and uphold the party’s integrity during such times.

The opposition party is holding a crucial National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting at the Alisa Hotel. This meeting sets the tone for the official launch of the party’s rebuilding and reorganization agenda, marking a pivotal moment in the party’s renewal efforts.

General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua emphasized the importance of unity, strategic planning, and grassroots engagement as the party charts a new path forward.
