Visionless John Mahama gave kayayei pans to carry loads while we offered them Life-Changing Opportunities – Bawumia
While John Mahama chose to give head porters (kayayei) pans to continue carrying loads on their heads, we came with bold solutions and offered them life-changing opportunities.
These were the words of Dr Mahamadu Bawumia when he handed over certificates to 22 former kayayei girls, who have undergone training and qualified as bus drivers, under the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP) Kayayei Empowerment Programme (KEP).
“Their inspiring story, is similar to the rest of the 5000 kayayei who have been transformed under various modules of the KEP including soap, detergent and bead making, bakery, pedicure and manicure, as well as décor and makeup,” the NPP presidential candidate stated.
Mindset
Dr Bawumia said the transformation of the kayayei attests to the mindset of possibilities, and also shows that when right decisions are taken, the country will be transformed. He said the kayayei have shown that they have as much intellect as anyone.
The NPP presidential candidate assured that, as President, God willing, we will continue to create more and equal opportunities for them and young Ghanaians to realise their potentials.
