Election 2024: Manhyia South NPP Chairman’s Red Alert Unfolds As NDC Forms Azorka Boys In Ashanti Region
The revelation by the Manhyia South Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Richard Adjei Mensah Ofori Atta, that the NDC in planning to unleash evil in the elections, is coming true.
This follows the formation of the Ashanti Regional branch of Azorka Boys, a vigilante group affiliated to the NDC specifically to cause mayhem in the Ashanti Region – the NPP’s stronghold- during the December 7 elections with the sole aim of reducing the votes of the NPP.
Red alert
Last week, the Manhyia South Constituency Chairman, popularly known as Tom Tom, issued a red alert that the signs are clear that the NDC is planning to execute their evil agenda in the elections.
According to him, any time the NDC is found to not campaigning close to elections, means they are planning to cause disorder and confusion in the country.
Violent group
Notoriously known for causing violence during elections, Azorka Boys, a vigilante group with its headquarters in Tamale, is the brainchild of Tamale-based NDC’s First Vice Chairman, Sofo Awudu Azorka.
An advertised flyer for the inauguration of the group had the photos of Sofo Azorka, John Dramani Mahama and Muntaka Mohammed Mubarak among others. But, information gathered indicated that the police in Kumasi made a move to stop the inauguration of the vigilante group.
Napo condemns group
Meanwhile , Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Napo) the NPP’s vice presidential candidate has condemned the NDC for the formation of the vigilante group in Ashanti Region.
Speaking during his tour of the Bono Region, Napo said he was not surprised about the development since the NDC lacks commitment to development and the welfare of the ordinary people. Making reference to the anti-vigilante law, he indicated that the hoodlums should be held accountable for any acts of violence that might occur.
Azorka defends
In spite of the wide condemnation of the formation of the group in Ashanti, Sofo Azorka has strongly defended their presence.
