When Holy Spirit descended Dr. Bawumia, John Mahama “bury the hatchet” in Church of Pentecost

Photos of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama sharing smiles at the opening of the Church of Pentecost’s National Development Conference on Wednesday, has reignited political discussions over who is who in the 2024 presidential election.

Currently, the two are the fiercest political opponents in the country going into the next general elections.
But, they appeared to have buried the hatchet in the house of the Lord, even if temporarily.

Mr. Mahama has already been elected as the NDC presidential candidate while Dr. Bawumia is highly tipped to win the NPP presidential primary later this year to lead the party in the next presidential election.

Political angle
Although the event was not a political one, many Ghanaians especially political watchers have waded into the political arena, trying to pitch the two against each other in who is likely to win the next presidential election.

Divergent views
People have been expressing opinions on the meeting of the two political giants . While many were impressed with the seeming friendship and brotherly posture they demonstrated , others thought the facial expression of the former President in some of the photos was not positive.

A number of the people expressed the hope that the positive development would be translated into the political arena especially going into the next general elections.

Mensah Joseph said:” This is so beautiful, united we stand dividend we fall. If they come together to bring ideas on how the the country will be developed it will be good but from different political parties we will remain where we are. Now we should forget about the political background.”

Linda Aubiate stated: “ Outside they are friends and people will be killing each other over them hmm asem oo.”
In one of the photos in which former President appeared to have squeezed his face, there were diverse opinions.
“When you look carefully, you can see that they were praying. In as much as we are doing politics, we should be careful about how we give comments on social media,” Abrokwa Emmanuel Dankwa stated.
Oheneba Nana Akosua Henewaah queried; “JDM is praying but his face looks angry , why?”
Maxwell Antwi stated: “ The Battle of the North is coming, Bawumia is leading.”

Conference
The two-day Church of Pentecost’s 2023 National Development Conference held at the Pentecost Convention Centre at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region, which was on the theme, “ Moral vision and national development”, was officially opened by Vice President Bawumia.

Also in attendance were former President John Agyekum Kufuor; the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, ; the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare, and some ministers of state and MPs.
