Selling Music Catalog Signals Its Lack of Relevance – Kuami Eugene

Kuami Eugene has shared his thoughts on the growing trend of artists selling their music catalogs, stating that such a move often means the songs no longer hold value to the artist.

He explained that most of his songs are still relevant and widely played, making it difficult for him to consider putting his catalog up for sale.

Speaking in an interview on Asasepa 107.3 FM, the award-winning singer revealed that selling his catalog would not be a straightforward decision. While he owns the masters to his music and is the writer of all his songs, he emphasized that he does not singlehandedly control every right attached to his catalog.

Eugene added that any decision regarding the sale of his works would require the involvement of other stakeholders. “I can’t just go and sell my songs; I have to answer to some people,” he said, stressing why selling his catalog is not currently an option for him.
