Samuel L. Jackson and LaTanya Richardson Jackson Commemorate 45 Years of Marriage in Cannes

American actor Samuel L. Jackson and his wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, spent their 45th wedding anniversary on an intimate yacht trip.

With fellow celebrity couples like Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys and T.I. and Tiny Harris celebrating milestone anniversaries this summer, the Jacksons commemorated their anniversary in an Instagram post on Monday (August 18). “Celebrating 45 Years of Love in Cannes!! ♥️💍 We have followed God’s path together and have received Blessings overflowing. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾” the caption of the collaborative post read, showing the couple enjoying an intimate boat cruise.
The Jacksons met as college students in the late 1960s, with Samuel L. Jackson, 76, attending Atlanta’s Morehouse College and LaTanya Richardson Jackson, 75, attending neighboring institution Spelman College. Two years after their wedding, the couple welcomed their only child, a daughter, Zoe Jackson, who would go on to be a television producer.

The Jacksons have starred in four films together, including 1990s dramas Juice and Losing Isaiah. In 2022, Richardson Jackson directed the Broadway revival of August Wilson’s The Piano Lesson, which starred her husband as Doaker Charles just two years before he’d return as the character in the Netflix adaptation.

The couple is happily moving forth with their acting careers, although LaTanya told People in May how she’ll tell her husband that “it’s time” to retire.

“My husband and I — Sam and I — both have said we’re going to do it till the wheels fall off. We both have … this pact between us that if we see ourselves doing more [than] we [should] be doing, we’ll pull each other in and say, ‘It’s time. Come in the house,’ and do it that way,” she told the outlet.

“We are just going to do this as long as life allows,” she added.
