Sadio Mane included in Senegal’s World Cup squad despite injury fears
Sadio Mane has been selected in Senegal’s 26-man squad for the World Cup in Qatar.
The 30-year-old gave his nation an injury scare after he was forced off injured just 20 minutes into Bayern Munich’s 6-1 rout of Werder Bremen on Tuesday.
Mane was replaced by Leroy Sane in the match. Bayern later confirmed that he suffered an injury to his right fibula and would have further examinations before confirming the scale of the problem.
However, Senegal have confirmed that Mane will be in the squad for their upcoming tournament in Qatar.
Mane has played every game for Senegal this year and scored the winning penalty to beat Egypt in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.
He joined Bayern from Liverpool during the summer transfer window in a £35million deal.
Senegal start their World Cup campaign on November 21 against the Netherlands in Group A, before playing host nation Qatar and then Ecuador.
