“Polish till you shine”: Kobby Kyei shares childhood memory behind his famous mantra

Ghanaian online journalist and Boys Lives Matter Too advocate Augustus Koranteng Kyei, known as Kobby Kyei, has revealed the personal story behind his now-famous mantra Polish Till You Shine
In an exclusive interview with Obomengniibaa Nana Akua on Penpensiwa on AsaasePa 107.3 on Saturday (17 May) Kyei explained that the inspiration came from his childhood experience with his father, who works in the fire service.
As a child, Kobby would often polish his father’s shoes. His father would encourage him by saying in pidgin, “Polish make e shine.” Those words stayed with him as he grew up.
During his university days, the phrase started to resonate deeply with him, and he applied it to his own life philosophy.
“It started ringing a bell and I applied it to my own life,” Kobby said. “No matter the struggle, just keep polishing and you will eventually shine.”
