Napo Ticks All NPP Boxes To Partner Bawumia — Political Scientist

A Lecturer at the Department of Political Science, University of Ghana, Dr Joshua Jebunte Zaato, has said Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh presents the best choice for running mate to NPP flag bearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Reacting to a National Investigations Bureau (NIB) report that named the Energy Minister as the preferred running mate to Dr Bawumia, the political scientist told Asaase Radio on Thursday, June 20, 2024, “ Napo ticks all the New Patriotic Party’s boxes to partner Bawumia.”

He added: “Imagine Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh on a platform with Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang arguing or debating about issues in this country, if you are a New Patriotic Party member, you would want to watch that debate.

“Because not only did both of them head the Education Ministry but he has gone on to head the Energy Ministry, so he ticks all the NPP boxes.”

The university don further indicated that Napo has what it takes to support his party to win big in the party’s stronghold of Ashanti Region. “He can deliver Ashanti and can deliver it to the degree the party wants. For me, his background and attributes are necessary for the NPP going forward, “he said.

The NIB survey on who is best suited for the running mate position of the NPP, sampled views from 5,116 NPP delegates nationwide, including national, regional, constituency and polling station executives.

The survey had Dr Prempeh securing 76.2% of the responses.
