Legendary Nana Ampadu passes on
Nana Ampadu, a Ghanaian highlife legend has died at age 76, a family source has confirmed. The family source said he passed on this morning (Tuesday, 28 September) at his residence in Akweteyman in the Greater Accra Region.
Nana Ampadu was born on 31 March 1945 in Obo-Kwahu in the Eastern Region. He is credited with numerous popular highlife tracks and is reported to have composed over 800 songs.
The “Oman bo adwo” hitmaker began mainstream when he formed the African Brothers Band in 1963. Ampadu’s style of music is loved by all, both kids and adults.
Some of his tracks include Ebi Ti Yie, Aku Sika, Kofi Nkrabea, Obiaa Ba Nnye, Woyoo Woyoo, Mother, Mentumi Ngyae Wo, Agartha, Aye Se Ye Do Wo, Obra, Drivers, Anibere Nnye, Oman Bo Adwo, Kwaata and many others.
