The vision of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly is to improve the quality of life of the people in the metropolis though the provision of essential service and creation of an enabling environment to ensure the total and sustainable development of the city and most persons in the catchment area have said the best person to help achieve his vision from 2021 and beyond is Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, the Assembly’s Metro Director of Urban Roads.
Scores of residents from different social, academic and religious backgrounds have declared their support for Ing Nana Poku Agyeman. According to them, he has the wherewithal, passion and the determination to lead the transformational processes of Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, within a short time.
In this regard, they have called on the authorities responsible for the appointment of the next Kumasi Mayor to select Ing Nana Poku Agyeman so that Kumasi would become a modern city in no distant future.
Most of the Kumasi residents, including market women, commercial drivers, restaurant operators and hotel owners, just to mention a few, have started an open crusade to ensure that Ing Nana Poku Agyeman became the mayor.
Interestingly, some of the people have taken to political radio talk shows and social media platforms such as WhatsApp, and Tweeter to campaign for the Kumasi Metro Roads Director to be appointed as the KMA boss.
According to the Ing Nana Poku Agyeman supporters, whose number keeps increasing on a daily basis, their idol has a positive track record of being a workaholic, team player, accommodative and a disciplinarian.
They also said Ing Nana Poku Agyeman is a visionary, who always causes positive change in his work environment. They particularly praised him for working assiduously as roads director to help give facelift to Kumasi roads.
According to them, they have strong confidence that Kumasi would experience massive transformation under the able leadership of Ing Nana Poku Agyeman, who has traveled wide and has strong foreign connections.
Bantama MP Joins Crusade
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye, who doubles as the Minister for Works and Housing, has also openly endorsed Ing Nana Poku Agyeman to become the next Kumasi Mayor.
Interestingly, the minister declared his unflinching support for Ing Nana Poku Agyeman in the presence of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene and some prominent Asante traditional leaders at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Asenso-Boakye, mincing no words, declared that Ing Nana Opoku Agyeman has what it takes to transform Kumasi into a modern city, should he be appointed as the Chief Executive of the KMA in the near future.
The minister, who was on a working tour to inspect the poor drainage system in Kumasi, said Ing Nana Poku Agyeman accompanied him to the nook and cranny of the city for the inspection, saying “he knows Kumasi well”.
Asenso-Boakye also stated emphatically that Kumasi needed a hard working, discipline, respectful and development-oriented person like Ing Nana Poku Agyeman to help lead the city into affluence in a short time.
