Kuami Eugene Urges Mahama to Ease Cedi’s Surge as It Impacts His Dollar Reserves

Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene has humorously appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to “slow down small” as the Ghanaian cedi continues to appreciate against the US dollar.

In a post on X on May 28, 2025, the artist joked that the rapid strengthening of the local currency is hurting those with savings in dollars—like himself.

“We beg President John Dramani Mahama to slow down small,” he wrote, adding, “My dollar reserves all dey go waste. I’m happy and sad at the same time.” he shared.

The post has sparked mixed reactions online. While some netizens saw the comment as insensitive during a time of economic recovery, others sympathized with the financial realities facing individuals with foreign currency investments.
