Kaaka’s murder: Key suspect grabbed
A man believed to be the key suspect in the murder of Ibrahim Mohammed aka ‘Kaaka’, has been nabbed by the police at Ejura, in the Ashanti Region.
The suspect, according to the police, was apprehended yesterday (Wednesday) at his hideout, following police intelligence, and he (suspect) has since been moved to Kumasi.
The Ejura Municipal Police Commander, DSP Philip Kojo Hammond, was updating journalists about the latest happenings about the death of Kaaka on Wednesday afternoon.K
The latest arrest has therefore increased to three, the number of suspects who have been apprehended by the police since Kaaka, a Social media activist was murdered on Monday.
Two other suspects, who have also been linked with Kaaka’s murder were apprehended by the police earlier in the week after it was confirmed that Kaaka had given up the ghost.
Disturbances
Kaaka’s death, it would be recalled, has sparked extreme anger in Ejura. The agitated youth right after the burial on Monday embarked on a destruction spree in the area.
In the course of the destruction, the youth came face to face with armed military-police team in a showdown. The youth pelted the security agents with stones and they responded with gunshots.
Two people were shot dead in the full glare of the public as four others also sustained injuries. Meanwhile, two of the injured have been discharged as the remaining two have been referred to KATH.
According to reports, the police after thorough investigations gathered that the third suspect may be linked with Kaaka’s strange death, so they (police) went for him for questioning.
In a related development, peace and calm had returned at Ejura when the story was being filed on Wednesday evening. Security presence in the community had also been beefed up.
