President Akufo-Addo’s government has plans of investing more in the power sector in order to expedite national growth and better the lives of the people.
The Energy Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, aka Napo, making the remarks, said power remains critical aspect in the lives of people.
“Power remains a critical aspect of our daily lives and that President Nana Akufo-Addo is focused on ensuring that the sector is fit for purpose,” the minister emphasised.
“The NPP government will continue to make the necessary investments in power generation, transmission and distribution,” Napo, who is also the MP for Manhyia South, said.
He made this known when President Akufo-Addo officially commissioned the 330KV Kumasi-Bolgatanga Transmission Line Project at Anwomaso, near Kumasi.
The project, whose construction covers a distance of approximately 550km, has increased transmission capacity to meet growing demand in Ashanti, northern Ghana and beyond.
The project has also helped to reduce transmission line overloads and associated high transmission losses and improved voltages, particularly in Ashanti, Bono and Bono East regions.
Napo commended President Akufo-Addo for his commitment and efforts, which has contributed to improve the energy sector and, thereby, enhancing businesses.
According to him, the Transmission Line Project would also help to reduce power fluctuations and help to greatly improve power supply and improve businesses.
President Akufo-Addo, in his remarks, said the new power station would enable the country to transport power to Burkina Faso and generate funds to boost the economy.
He, therefore, lauded Napo and his competent team at the energy sector for their significant roles which has made the Transmission Line Project possible.
In a related development, President Akufo-Addo on Monday inspected the ongoing Kumasi Central Market Project Phase Two, which is progressing according to schedule.
He also visited the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi to inspect the Mother and Baby Unit (MBU) ultra-modern complex, which is also progressing steadily.
