Ghana ranked 125th happiest country globally

Ghana has been ranked 125th out of 147 countries in the 2025 World Happiness Report, reflecting a decline in overall happiness based on various indicators.

In the previous 2024 ranking, Ghana placed 120th out of 143 countries, meaning the country has dropped five places in the global happiness index.

Meanwhile, Finland maintained its position as the world’s happiest country for the eighth consecutive year.

On the African continent, South Africa ranked as the happiest nation, placing 95th globally, followed by Mozambique (96th), Gabon (97th), and Côte d’Ivoire (98th).5. Congo – 100th globally

The research was conducted by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford. The rankings are derived from individuals’ self-assessments of their quality of life, averaged over three years. Factors influencing these assessments include GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.

In the 2024 World Happiness Report, Ghana was ranked 120th out of 143 countries, with a happiness index score of 4.289.
